3-D Flower bouquet using Spellbinders Amazing Paper Grace Die of the Month – Jan 2020

Hi friends, I have a 3-d project to share with you today. I have said this several times before Becca Feeken from Amazing Paper Grace is a genius of die making. I love her dies and these vignettes just take things to next level. Let me be honest here, I was intimidated at first. For one reason or another, I have always ended up using the vignette dies in a 2d project – mainly cards. But one of my goals for 2020 is to stretch myself, overcome my intimidations and be fearless in crafting. That is why you will see me try new kinds of projects, I haven’t made before (remember the felt projects I shared recently?) – so, today’s project is using a new-to-me die collection and a new-to-me color scheme. I loved how it turned out. Let me know if you do too..

I thought of this color scheme because I have been eyeing a lot of Anthropologie home decor stuff like pillows etc. But even for card making / paper crafting, I think I like this look. It’s a little unusual, but looks good I think.

I did a huge bunch of die cutting for this one. For both of the outer fan-like structures, I used a white-gold patterned paper from past kit and also watercolor paper for the backing, just to make it sturdy. For the brown-ish flowers, I used Neenah Desert Storm paper and for the white ones Neenah Solar White – both 80 lb. The green cardstock is from my stash. I think Green Apple from Simon Says Stamp, so I have linked to it below.

For assembling this I used how-to videos from Becca. I did stumble a bit in between and what I learnt that it is best to

  1. attach the stems to stem bases

  2. decide the order of how you want to layer the bases

  3. attach flowers – I kept going back in between each layer to decide what flowers and where

  4. insert the vignettes – the sides, not the front and backs – into the slits

  5. at last attach the front and back
