A big thank you to all of you for your kind and encouraging words about our chai room. All those facebook likes really made me very happy.
Continuing the same spirit, let’s take a sneak peek into the next room – our living room. Today I will show you only one wall because I have a great news to share and I can’t wait to let you in on it. So come on in…
The lamp in the left side was plain when we got it. I upcycled it with some flowers made from recycled fashion magazine paper flowers etc. (* more on that later)
The cushion covers are my experiment with my sewing machine :D
The little whiteboard on the shoerack was a gift from the kind American family we met when we had just moved here. Sometimes this corner looks like this:
The wall above the sofa is adorned with several of my experiments – with paper, canvas, clay etc.
The two fairies and the mushroom are again from Rock City. The box and the water can on left are from a sale from Michaels. The button flowers are made by yours truly and her little helpers – Diya, Janvi and Akshi.
The butterflies, the flower ball (pomander) and the bird are special. They are now available as products in my very own little shop on etsy.
I am so excited!
You know I have been dabbling in arts and crafts for several years now. I wanted to take it to the next level. However, I didn’t have a strong enough motive as my job takes care of my and my family’s needs pretty well.
Why now you may ask. Well, the thing is when I came to Nashville, I met several wonderful people. One of them is my close friend – Kristin. She made something stir inside me when she showed me sweet handwritten letters from the little girl in Sri Lanka whom Kristin sponsors. That was my light bulb moment.
I decided to put my creativity to a good cause. I am planning to run this shop with the help of my wonderful (and ever so patient with me) husband. A large portion of the profits will go towards sponsoring the education of a girl child in remote Indian villages.
Wish me luck! I am sure with your wishes and prayers it won’t be long before I am able to live my dream of making a positive difference in someone’s life.
May Lord Krishna bless you all with happy dreams that come true!
Thanks!
