November. Month of giving and sharing. Giving thanks. Sharing hot beverages with your friends and warm hugs.
I wish I had a magic wand to fill people’s hearts with kindness so there would never be another episode of what happened in Paris. But I know I won’t get any magic wand, so I am going to do my little bit for spreading kindness. We definitely need more of it now than at any other time.
Of course, teachers are big part of this group! They work tirelessly for our community and make sure they inspire our future to be full of good things. I absolutely admire their dedication to their work. When I look back and think about my teachers, my mind fills with gratitude. They are a big reason for me being able to do what I do today. I thank them from the bottom of my heart!
I am also so very grateful to the teachers my daughters have. They are amazing and both my princesses absolutely adore their teachers! This year me and my older daughter (princess D) decided to create two handmade cards – one for her teacher and one for my younger one’s teacher. We are all busy preparing for our upcoming vacation and didn’t have time to do anything more elaborate. But we just couldn’t pass an opportunity to make these two wonderful ladies feel appreciated and special. Along with these cards we will also add a gift card so they can treat themselves to something nice. :-)
Card 1
For the first card, my older one used a piece of watercolor paper to paint diagonal stripes with rainbow colors. We then used stitched rectangle dies to cut out a rectangle out of it. Then we moved our die a little to the side and die cut again to get a stitched square.
We planned to have a yellow banner with the stamped sentiment on it, but my princess wanted to get some splatters of black ink on this square first. When we were doing the ink splatters, we accidentally ended up splashing too much. Ooppps… Oh she was so disappointed thinking we had ruined the card. :-(
But we quickly realized that we can fix it with some creative layering. So instead of using a banner with the sentiment, we actually went with a end-to-end panel of textured yellow card stock and hid our black boo-boo behind it. The sentiment on this card is from Color and Sunshine stamp set by Simon Says Stamp. Finally, to finish it off, we simply adhered some shiny sequins on top.
Card 2
This second card has no stamping. We only used one patterned paper and one stamp. First from the patterned paper, we cut out the larger rectangle and rounded two of its corners. Then we cut out a smaller rectangle from the same patterned paper, but used the backside of it. We rounded all of its corner and adhered one sticker from Heidi Grace. We adorned the centers of some of the flowers with some sparkly confetti.
