Today I have a cool little quick tip for you guys. Remember the times in school, when we had to color flowers? I used to love going back to a watercolored image and add lines with markers. That’s what I did with each of the cards today. Only, instead of colored markers or pencils, I used a stardust sparkle pen by Sakura. Although hard to catch on camera, in real life this makes a great impact.
For all these cards today, I used Altenew floral stamps. I find these images so versatile and can work for several different types of cards.
Card 1
For the first one, I used masking technique and heat embossed the images with opaque white embossing powder on Strathmore watercolor paper. Then I watercolored on top with zig real brush watercolor markers. I used wet-on-wet technique to break the colors and lighter shades. Once all the colors dried, I went over each petal and added sparkling lines with my sparkle pen. Just a simple sentiment and a few iridescent sequins completed the card.
Card 2
For this second card I did everything just like the first one, except instead of watercoloring I added color using my kids coloring pencils. With this one, my sparkle lines got a little more blended out, but the overall effect is still very pretty.
Card 3
For this last card, I did not do any masking or heat embossing. I used archival black ink by Ranger which is a waterproof ink, so it does not smudge. I used zig real brush markers for coloring before I added sparkle lines. Love how the gold sparkle adds so much more to this card. For finishing touches I added some sequins from SSS. These came with one of the card kits.
