Hi friends, I have finally managed to get myself the Altenew Build-a-flower Rose stamp set. I am so happy to share a card using this one today.
Unlike most other layering stamp sets which have 3 or 4 layers, this one has 6 layers! And that’s what helps build all the depth on this gorgeous flower.
I started by using Neenah white cardstock and stamping several of these flowers. I did have to practice 3-4 times before I got it to line up exactly as I wanted, but the picture guide on the back of the stamp set helped.
I used Studio G red ink and stamped the most solid layer first and then used the same ink over and over to stamp the remaining layers. I used MISTI for all my stamping so that when I wanted a particular layer to be darker, I stamped it on the same spot three, even four times. That is how I was able to get a lot of color variation by using just one ink pad.
For the leaves, I almost did the same thing, but then decided to do something different and stamped each layer with a different ink from Colorbox – I used Lime, Fresh Green, Celadon and Green.
After this I did some fun die cutting. First I die cut the flowers and leaves using matching dies (part of the Build-a-flower set). I also used Neenah Gray paper to cut out a rectangle and then used Sizzix 660220 Thinlits Die Set, Mixed Media by Tim Holtz to cut out the diamond design. I flipped it and cut it out one more time. I also used the same die on some scratch gold mirrored cardstock to cut out the diamond pieces.
Finally I layered all the background pieces and gold diamonds on a black cardbase and adhered them down using liquid glue. I foam mounted the flowers and a sentiment. This sentiment came in one of the card kits from Spellbinders. As a final finishing touch I adhered a few gold and red heart confetti using multi medium matte adhesive.
