Hello dearies! I am back with my next installment of inspiration for backgrounds. Idea #5 is the simplest of them all – go with plain cardbase. Don’t have any kind of pattern or texture for the background at all. It does not get any simpler than this, guys! :-)

Here’s my card for today. Other than a strip of washi tape on the side, the background itself does not have anything on it.
I originally thought I would keep it all plain, without even the washi on the side. But while scoring this card, I did not get a nice smooth edge. So to cover up my mistake, I added the washi tape on the side {like I totally meant to do that, ya know? ;-) }
For the focal point I die cut cute little coffee cups twice with white paper and twice with gray paper. Next I cut out the coffee-cozy (the-round-wrap-around-thing-that-protects-hands-from- touching-the-hot-cups) from the gray paper and added vertical lines to them using Zig gray markers. I also used few more Zig markers to color in their eyes (yes!), lips and hearts. To get some more definition to their caps, I added shadows using the Zig gray marker. Once they were ready, I assembled all the little pieces by mounting them on pieces of foam tape and filling in those tiny parts.
Instead of stamping my sentiment, I decided to go with a couple sentiment strips from the patterned paper pack.
Before I took off the back release paper of the foam tape on those coffee cups, I arranged everything as I wanted and stamped three hearts at the top. After this, I added rest of the pieces and finished off by added glossy accents to all the hearts.

You can totally use this trick with store-bought / ready-to-use cardbases which already have some subtle pattern on them. The one below came from StampinUp kit, I think.
