Believe in the Season

Hi friends, I am so excited to share the latest Simon Says Stamp release with you. I was so lucky to be able to play with one of the products in this release – the snowglobe landscape die and made this card with it.

Happy Holidays Snowglobe Landscape

The snowglobe landscape die is a set of two separate dies – one for the snowglobe + the rolling hill and another for the base of snowglobe. I started by die cutting a piece of SSS white card stock using the snowglobe landscape die. I die cut the circle on the snowglobe about 5-6 times using some scratch piece of white card stock and cut out the inside portion using one of my old Sizzix dies as it fit perfectly in that size ;-) I am sure you could use any of the circle dies that match the size. Or you could also cut out the inside with a craft knife. I would recommend drawing the inner circle and cutting on the line if you choose to use the craft knife. I find that makes it easy for me to get even cuts.

I also die cut the base of the snowglobe, a tiny star and one more outer circle using silver card stock I picked up at my local Joann’s store. {I always pick up shiny papers when I go there. Is it just me?} Oh and I die cut the largest stitched rectangle using patterned paper for my background.

On the base layer of my die cut snowglobe, I stamped a tree using last year’s SSS Gifts of Love stamp set, ink blended with SSS Surf Blue ink to create a sky and added tiny dots with Sakura sparkle glitter pen to create an illusion of falling snow. This pen as well as the stamp set came in one of SSS card kits.

To create the shaker, I added some fake snow and tiny seed beads inside the snowglobe. Then I layered all the cut circles and used a piece of packaging material under the silver circle to create my shaker window. I mounted the base of the snowglobe at the bottom and supported it by tucking a piece of foam tape underneath.

For my sentiment, I stamped Happy Holidays using black archival ink and heat embossed on top using some clear sparkle embossing powder from Wow. The archival ink stayed wet enough for me to pour embossing powder on it and heat set. I had not prepped my surface with powder tool as I had not planning on heat embossing, so I did get a few stray spots of the sparkle embossing powder around my sentiment. For this card, I loved the look, so just went with it like I totally meant to do that ;-)

Finally, I adhered the snowglobe piece onto the background piece using foam tape and added a strip of glittery blue border on it to finish my card. At this point I realized, I had a tiny smudge inside my shaker. I was too far ahead in the game to give up, so I cut out one more slightly curved strip of the same silver paper and adhered it right above the base of the snowglobe again, like I totally meant to do that ;-)

Here’s a close up of my tiny little shaker snowglobe. Wish I could show you how sparkly the insde of it was with all the little seed beads and sparkle dots.

I had so much fun putting this card together. I am immensely grateful to Simon Says Stamp for sending me this die set to work with. And what’s more? There is more where that came from! SSS revealed the latest release today and it has so many fabulous goodies! Check these out before they sell out.

SSS Believe in the Season – Stamp & Die sets

Each of these are also sold separately, but if there are dies available, I always purchase them together. That way I have more options to work with those images.

SSS Believe in the Season – Inks

Love all these colors, but Barely Beige and Merlow are my favorites… at least for now :-)

SSS Believe in the Season – Speciality Dies

I think the Snow flurries and Snowflakes for the Season dies will coordinate well with last year’s stamp set – Cute snowflakes. This one also came in one of the SSS Card kits. I am swooning over the Corbel Tree Collage die.

Believe in the Season – Sentiments, Background stamps and Coloring panels

So many possibilities here. I think my wallet is in trouble! Love the Christmas Essentials and Believe in the Season sets. Lots of great sentiments. The Circle Doodle background seems so versatile and the coloring panels are awesome for some quick, fun cards!

Supplies List for today’s card

Here’s wishing lots of crafty fun for you!!

Hugs, ~Varada
