Card using SSS Card Kit

Thanks so much for all your kind words and encouragement for my attempts at card making. You guys are the best !!

At the beginning of this year, I started exploring options for getting deeper into this hobby. I purchased some supplies from Stampin Up! and also for one month in March, I subscribed to the Simon Says Stamp card kit. My certificate course at UW took the front seat April onwards, so I discontinued the card kit subscription. But I simply fell in love with the idea of receiving awesome goodies every month and experimenting with them. So, I am planning to subscribe again from the next month :-D

Anyways, here is another card which I made, using only the supplies from the Simon Says Stamp (SSS) March 2015 card kit.

I used the following items from the kit:

I also used Tombow liquid glue, paper scissors and a paper trimmer from We R Memory Keepers in addition to the items above.

To put together this card, I used the paper trimmer to cut the card stock vertically in half and create a standard sized top folding card.

I then used two of the journaling cards and layered them one on top of the other, slightly off centered from each other.

I used three patterned papers and cut some strips from them. I didn’t measure them for width really, just eyeballed to make them unequal widths. I them cut them into half and made a banner shape on one side.

I layered these banners and arranged them from the top right corner. I also slightly rolled the banner ends upwards to give them some dimension. Everywhere on this card I only used the liquid glue.

For a card dressed like this on the outside, I wanted the inside piece also to look fairly decorated. I used the back side of another journaling card which had ruled lines, and created another layered banners piece with the left over stripes.

I finished the front of the card with a couple gem stones from my stash.

Here’s a closer look at the finished product
