Card using SSS March 2016 card kit

Hello friends, did you know March is national crafts month? Well, now you do! So that’s good enough reason to craft more, create more, share more, right? :-D

Keeping in that spirit, I have a card idea using the March 2016 card kit. This kit is probably the easiest one to work with. Mainly because along with stamps and patterned papers, you also have matching, coordinating dies with those stamps. How awesome is that!!

In 2016, I want to challenge myself to try new styles and techniques in card making. So I decided to create a mostly-black-and-white background and then highlight just one single image with a pop of color. Here’s what it came out to be:

I started by creating a card panel that is about 1/4″ smaller than my card front. I used SSS black ink to stamp the medium outline bunny image everywhere on this panel. I kept rotating my stamp and covering the area. No logic at all.

I also stamped the biggest outline bunny image using the same ink on a yellow-polka-dot patterned paper included in the kit. I also gave her a cute face :-) The face stamps in this stamp set are just the cutest. The reverse side of this yellow paper has butterflies. I used one of the blue patterned butterflies from the remaining piece and stamped the tiny little bow image on it. I die cut both the big bunny and the bow using matching dies.

For the sentiment, I cut a strip of another patterned paper (that has colorful stripes on it) and on this piece I stamped the “you are my kind of peep” sentiment. I layered a couple more stripes in coordinating colors and on one side cut a banner end.

Finally I foam mounted everything and scattered a few sequins (also from the kit) and added glossy accents to the bow to finish this card. Love how it turned out :-)
