Copic Colored Chocolate Cake Card

Hello everyone!

This is Jyoti from cardsncraftsnyc.com sharing my card today. I created this card using the On Your Special Day stamp set from the latest release Reason to Smile for July 2021.

When I saw this stamp set I wanted it to be a chocolate cake. So I printed this image on white card stock and started coloring the image. I used Copic markers to color this chocolate cake.

Including the digital stamp set, I used the following supplies to create the card.

Key Ingredients:

  • Neenah 110lb card-stock for card base

  • Neenah 80 lb card-stock for printing the image ( My printer doesn’t take 110 lb card-stock)

  • Copic colors in E49 E27 E77 and B66 as an under-paint to darken the shadows.

  • Simon Says Stamp ink cube in Audrey Blue to create the background.

  • Wood background pattern paper

  • Taylor Expression sentiment.

  • Foam tapes, adhesives

Steps:

  • After printing the image on 80 lb card stock I colored it using the Copic markers and then fussy cut the image with a sharp pair of scissors.

  • I created a 4 and a half-inch by 4 and a half-inch card base with Neenah 110 lb cardstock.

  • I create a panel for background using the Simon says stamp Audrey Blue ink cube just swiping short strokes directly on the card-stock. The Audrey blue complemented the chocolate-colored cake I think.

  • I wanted the cake to sit on something, so I cut out a piece of wood panel pattern paper so it looked like a table on my card.

  • I added the background panel directly on my card base but added the wood panel piece using foam tape.

  • Then I added the chocolate cake image using foam tape on my background

  • I added the sentiment which was already pre-stamped and embossed.

  • For finishing touches, I added some silver paint on the dots around the cake and used a white gel pen to highlight some areas of the cake to mimic the gloss of the chocolate.

This finished my card. Hope you get inspired to create something similar.

Hugs,

Jyoti
