Creating a background with embossing plate and a Giveaway!

Hello friends, I know I should have posted this on last Friday but for some reason I could not. Life! I am still going to post it backdated because I want you all to have all the chances to comment on (and all the inspiration too) for the giveaway (read till the end to find out!).

Simon Says Stamp sent me this beautiful Circle Doodles texture embossing plate as a promotional product. I did not manage to use it until now as we were in the process of moving our house and getting settled. Today I finally opened it and created a beautiful background for this card.

I started by creating a sandwich like I usually create for my wafer thin dies. Because this plate is slightly thinner than a die, I added 4 printer paper sheets on top of my actual Neenah Gray 90lb cardstock (for added pressure). It created a cool textured background. I wanted to highlight it even more, so I ink blended with Distress Ink Vintage Photo on top. This brought out the crevices in the paper even more and made them stand out.

For my focal point, I die cut several leaves from some patterned paper using dies from SSS Forget Me Not trio set. I also stamped and cut out the words “friends” (using matching die) and My Favorite Things Tag Builder dienamics dies. I ink blended using Vintage Photo on the words cut outs too for a coordinated look.

Finally I assembled my card and adhered it on top of a black card base. Just because I could not leave it alone, I added a few sequins and twine :-)
