Hi friends, I have a Thanks card to share with you today. For creating this one, I used double masking technique shown by one of my favorite crafters – Kristina Werner.
This was my first attempt at something like this. I used normal printer paper with some temporary adhesive on the back for my first mask and I believe that is why some of the (second) liquid mask seepedn through. It made my sentiment not as crisp as I’d have liked it to be. But I loved the overall effect of having white / uncolored sentiment with colors around it.
I started by die cutting the word Thanks using one of LilInker Designs word dies. I saved the word itself and also the areas in the middle of letters like ‘a’. I adhered my negative area with some temporary adhesive to a watercolor paper as my first mask. I also put the areas in the middle of the letters in place and temp adhered them too.
Next I filled in the word with my masking fluid. This made sure that the word itself would not get any color when I watercolored this piece. I took of the paper masks and let the liquid mask dry. Then I watercolored the panel with my kid’s watercolors.
After the panel was completely dry, I used the tip of my fingers to gently rub away the liquid (now dry) mask to reveal the while letters.
To embellish, I stamped several leaves and tiny flowers from Wplus9 Pretty Little Peonies stamp set and then adhered several more punched out flowers on top. I also adhered a confetti butterfly to add a little sparkle :-)
