Home decor / framed art using SSS April 2016 card kit

Who says, a card kit should only be used to make cards, right? I will show you how I used the supplies from Simon Says Stamp April 2016 card kit to make framed art.

The pack of stickers and patterned papers in this kit worked perfectly to make art that has daily reminders to “be awesome”. This will work great for your home, office or even craft room.

I started with an IKEA Ribba 4″x6″ White Wooden Picture Frame like this one here. I removed the mat that’s included in this frame to cut out a cardstock as big as the mat itself. I used a pink cardstock, but none of the background shows anyway, so you could used whatever you have available.

I then used the inside opening of the mat to lightly outline the area on my cardstock that would actually show through. This was the area that I decorated with patterned papers and stickers.

I used two broad and one thin strip of papers to cover the outlined area and then arranged all the stickers the way I wanted them to be. I added one of the clips that says “today” to the mix, too. I also used a couple strips of patterned papers which had the sentiment for “Don’t count the says. Make the days count!”

I only used scor tape to adhere the patterned papers strips and the “today” clip, as I did not want dimension to this one. It would get squished with the glass in front anyways. I did consider removing the glass altogether, but then decided against it.

Once I had all the elements the way I wanted them to be, I added it to the frame. To bring a little bit of the inside artwork to the outside of the frame, I added some matching stickers (even sentiment stickers) to the frame itself.
