“Just because” card – ClearlyBesotted “Happy everything” stamp set + L

Hi friends, I hope you all are doing something creative every day. It doesn’t have to be anything elaborate or expensive. Just some simple doodling or coloring just sets your mind free.

I am so thankful for Kathy’s daily coloring challenge. Right from Feb 1, I have been creating something every day – not necessarily finishing a project completely in one sitting, but have been spending some time coloring, trying out new techniques and such every day.

Today’s card also started as a part of coloring practice. I heat embossed the rose image and the butterflies from Clearly Besotted Happy Everything stamp set using opaque white embossing powder from Zing on a Strathmore watercolor paper. I am no longer able to find this stamp set online, but I am sure any outline stamp set with a prominent flower image will work for this type of cards. Something like, this or this or this for instance.

Next I colored all the images with my Zig markers. I did try to do highlight and shading on the rose, but honestly I don’t think I did justice to this image. I will try more and hopefully one day, I will master the technique! ;-)

If you follow me on Instagram, you must have seen this colored piece one show up. (If you don’t, please do follow me there. I do have some exciting things planned for my IG followers soon.)

Next I die cut the images and mounted everything on a craft paper. For the sentiment, I used one of the stamp sets from LilInker Designs. This one is called Sunshine Sentiments and has so many versatile sentiments. This one has become one of my favorite stamps for sentiments lately :-)

Even with the die cutting on this one, I think I did not accurately line up the dies. They were off just a tad bit. But nothing major, so I carried on :-) For me, creating cards is less about precision / accuracy and more about having fun, making something beautiful and sharing the love of handmade. As for precision / accuracy ? I enjoy those at my day job! :-)

Supplies List

For your convenience, I am sharing links to the supplies I’ve used for these cards – click on the picture or link to go directly to the product. As I could not find the actual stamp set I used anywhere, I’m sharing links to some similar ones which would work well with today’s card. Wherever available, I have used affiliate links, which means when you make a purchase, I receive a small commission (at no extra cost to you) which I use to run this blog. I truly appreciate your support!

So what do you think of this card? Please do share your thoughts. I would love to hear from you!!

Stay creative!! ~Varada
