Love themed card using My Minds Eye goodies

Hello friends,

Love is in the air, this time of the year, right? February, Valentine’s day and Spring are just around the corner and I am thinking of clear blue skies, pink flowers on the roadsides, a dash of dazzle and heart balloons in all the stores. My card today will just show you how much I am ready for spring and hearts :-)

I totally fell in love with the October 2015 Simon Says Stamp card kit. My favorite supplies in that kit were the My Mind’s Eye journaling cards from their ‘My Story’ collection. I decided to save one of the cards with the heart and flowers on it, for Valentine’s day. I am so glad I did!

I didn’t want to team this journaling card with the gold foiled ampersand that came in the same kit. Not because it won’t look good, definitely not that reason. I think it looks fantastic. But there are so many cards out there which have already used that idea. I wanted something else, but gold foiled.

I got lucky when I became a winner in a Simon Says Stamp blog hop. I got another pack of My Mind’s Eye goodies – their stickers from the ‘Fancy That’ collection. This pack has some gold foiled letters – my perfect ‘something gold’!! :-)

When I was just exploring card making, I has signed up to be a StampinUp demonstrator. In my welcome package, there was a Paper Pumpkin box with some pre-cut-and-folded card bases. I used one of those for this card. With a tone-on-tone chevron pattern on the front, I thought it would add the right amount of interest.

On top of the card front, I added the heart-and-flowers journaling card with some not-so-bulky foam tape. I then spelled You & Me with the letter stickers right onto the journaling card. I also used a sentiment sticker from the same ‘Fancy That’ collection and foam mounted it on the card.

To carry the flowery print onto the base of the card, I tucked in a couple small fussy cut banners on one side. The papers are from the same My Story collection by My Mind’s Eye.

There you have it. An elegant love themed card in under 10 mins :-)
