Masculine birthday card

Hi crafters, recently I needed a birthday card for a guy friend of mine. As you must have noticed, guy-cards are not something I make by default. When I am crafting, I always gravitate towards flowery images and girly colors, so I was worried this might be a little out-of-my-comfort-zone. I was so wrong!! Not only did I enjoy making this card, but also I decorated the inside of the card and the envelope!! Can’t wait to show you guys :-D

Card front

To start with, I used a few self-adhesive die cuts I had received from StampinUp! when I had just started as a demonstrator. These came in the paper pumpkin kit I received along with my starter kit.

Taking a cue from these, I decided to stick to the green-blue color scheme with a touch of black to bring in some bold. I used three different inks – Marina Mist (by StampinUp!), Green Apple (SSS) and Black (SSS).

I used two different stamp sets for the card front – Lots of Stars (SSS) and Happy Birthday stamp set by StampinUp! (from the same paper pumpkin kit).

I also did a little bit of stenciling around the center of my card front using the zig zag stencil (SSS) and Marina Mist ink. The mini blending tool helped blend a very light layer of ink. Just enough to add a little bit of interest.

Inside the card

On the inside of this card, I used the star stamps again and added a couple sentiments from Sunshine Sentiments stamp set (by LilInker Designs).

Envelope

For a matching envelope, I created a similar pattern with the star stamps on the front of a plain white envelope. I also added a couple more sentiments in each corner using Sizzix clear stamp set (came with a framelits die set).

Totally loved creating this card! I’m sure I will be making several more cards with this stamps set – a girly card (pink, gold and purple stars?), a set of note cards may be? Hhmmm.. Itching to be crafty :-) Do give this one a try. If you don’t have the exact same stamp set, pick one which has several sizes of a same image – flowers, balloons, or hearts? Yes, please! And don’t forget to share your creation with me.
