Hi friends, we are still celebrating with SSS Mandy’s Flowers stamp set over here. You can check out previous card ideas here. Today’s card is a “flip” card – it uses a fun fold to make the front open with a flip.
I started by using one ready made card base. On the front side of this one, I partially die cut a circle to create the circular flap. I made a fold in between the front side of the card and lined up the half part of my circle die to that line. I placed my top cutting plate only to that line so that only that much area under the cutting plate would be cut and rest of the circle would be still intact and still attached to the card.
I used the same circle die to cut out a circle from Strathmore watercolor paper. On this I stamped the potted flowers and near top of the pot, I stamped my sentiment “with thanks” – all using Archival Black ink.
Next I used Inktense pencils – Sea Blue, Sun Yellow, Mustard, Apple Green and Bark to color in the image. Since these are Inktense pencils, I used my waterbrush and Ranger #2 brush to color in just like I’d do with watercolors.
Once both these basic pieces for the flip were ready, I cut out two patterned paper panels – One with the script to cover the front side and another blue jeweled design to cover the inside of the card. I scored and folded the top edge of the inside panel and adhered it to the back of my card, so that this panel sits after the flip, on the inside of the card and opens upwards.
Finally I adhered the top (scripty) panel, foam mounted my colored circle and added a few matching sequins to finish this card.
I did put together a small quick-tip video to explain these steps. Please let me know what you think. I am trying to improve on my video making skills and your feedback is the best way for me to learn to do it better.
Enjoy!!
