Hi, my crafty friends! It’s a very special day today. It is my sister’s birthday and my niece’s birthday and it is also release day at Simon Says Stamp! To celebrate I am sharing a birthday card using the Diamond Pattern background cling stamp from the latest Friendly Frolic release by SSS.
I started this project using a rectangle panel which I had cut a little narrower than A2 card. I did not check the size, but just eyeballed it to be about a quarter of an inch narrower. On this panel, I stamped the Diamond Pattern using Versa Mark ink and heat embossed it with Zing Opaque White embossing powder. Then I ink blended on top with two Simon Says Stamp inks – Surf Blue and Green Apple.
For my embellishments I used one of the flowers from SSS Beautiful Flowers stamp set. I stamped it using Antique Linen Distress ink and watercolored it with Festive Berries distress ink. While the stamp was still mounted in my MISTI, I stamped again over it using Studio G red ink. In my enthusiasm, I did the second stamping while the paper was still a little damp. This made the detailed stamped lines a little bit spread out but this made it look less harsh and more natural. #happyAccident :-) For the flower center I used Fossilized Amber distress ink.
For the sentiment I used ‘happy birthday’ sentiment from Simon’s You Matter stamp set. I stamped it using Archival Black ink. I fussy cut it out in the shape of a banner. I also decided to add some gold leaves and used the SSS Forget Me Not dies to die cut some from gold mirrored cardstock. I adhered some gold thread, gold leaves, the sentiment banner and foam mounted the flower. Oh and I also added some SSS colorful confetti (#cantCreateWithoutBling). Once I was completely happy with the panel, I adhered it to a A2 card base.
Do give this idea a try and watch this space for more ideas using this Diamond Pattern background stamp. I have at least 3 more ideas. :-)
