Hi friends, it is release day at Simon Says Stamp – and I have 3 ideas to share using one of the stamps sets in this Good Vibes release. This stamp set is called Vacation Time and has several sentiments in beautiful fonts. I am a huge fan of sentiment stamps and can’t seem to have enough of them. :-P In these 4 posts, we will explore ways to use this stamp set with patterned papers and create cards for different occasions.
Today we will use these stamps to enhance a patterned paper background, and also to add a bold statement with a brush stroke sentiment banner heat embossed on vellum. This card will focus on travel theme.
For the card front:

I started by die cutting a piece of patterned paper using the largest stitched rectangle. This paper came in Simon Says Stamp card kit and are part of the 6×6 patterned paper pack by Modascrap Fly. From the leftover piece of the same paper, I fussy cut out one more hot air balloon. I went over the sides of this balloon cut out with Simon Says Stamp Steel Blue ink.
I selected all travel related sentiments from the set. The smaller ones I heat embossed on the patterned paper rectangle and the balloon; the larger brush stroke one, on a piece of vellum.
After foam mounting the balloon I fussy cut a banner tail for the vellum and wrapped it around. I added several sequins from Simon Says Stamp and hid a couple glue dots behind these to adhere the vellum in place. Lastly as a finishing touch, I went over each balloon with my Wink of Stella to add some subtle bling / shine. (#Can’tCreateCardsWithoutBling)
For inside of this card:

I did something unusual (for me) with this card. Although this is standard sized top folding card, I did not create the card with a single piece of cardstock. Instead, I created two separate panels and attached them together. Kinda like the second technique from this card/video here.
I die cut both the outside panel as well as the inside panel using the largest plain rectangle die from Spellbinders Hemstitch Rectangles die set. I also embossed the inside panel to add an edge to it.
On this inside panel, I stamped one more sentiment from the same set using Simon Says Stamp Steel Blue ink.
Hope you give this idea a try. I am planning to use it more often specially for cards with dark colored card front. That way I don’t need to add another white panel on the inside for writing personal message. What say?
