Simon Says Stamp Good Vibes release inspiration 3

Hi Friends, one more card idea from the Good Vibes release from Simon Says Stamp. Today I used one of my favorite techniques to create this card and also tried something new too. I am still showcasing the same stamp set – Vacation Time – from this release. Although this set is focusing on vacation and travel related stuff, there are several different sentiments which can be used for other cards like I am doing here for a graduation card and like I did in this “Thanks” card and this “Travel” card.

I love to create my own stamped and colored backgrounds. I often do the coloring with Zig markers or watercolors. Today I wanted to play with my Spectrum Noir markers. These are the first alcohol markers I am trying to work with. I don’t have copics, but I thought I will play with these first and then move on to copics.

For my images today, I used one of the stamp sets from Lawn Fawn. I love their cute images and critters, but since I am not a skilled colorer yet, I haven’t ventured into playing with a lot of their images until now. Recently I was in need of some graduation cards, so I decided to purchase Lawn Fawn Smart Cookie stamp and die set. Priced at $9.99 for the stamp-and-die bundle this one is a great value for money too! I combined images from this stamp set with sentiments from Simon Says Stamp Vacation Time stamp set.

I started by die cutting the largest stitched rectangle from Simon Says Stamp 120 lb White cardstock. On this rectangle, I stamped the certificate and graduation cap images kinda randomly – I rotated the images, made sure they were not equally spaced and so on. I also stamped one of each of these images on a separate little piece from the same SSS 120# cardstock. I die cut these to individual images using matching dies. To color all these images I used two markers – IB3 and DR2.

I used Momento Tuxedo Black ink for this as I knew I was going to color using Spectrum Noir markers which are alcohol markers. Momento inks are safe for alcohol markers – they don’t smudge. I used the same ink and stamped “you deserve this” sentiment scattering that in between the other images.

With the same black ink, I stamped the sentiment “Congrats!” on a piece of smaller stitched rectangle that was die cut from some textured cardstock from my stash. I used MISTI for stamping this because with the texture on the cardstock, I knew I would need to stamp multiple times.

To assemble my card, I used a stripe of vellum just behind the ‘congrats!’ piece because I thought the background right behind it was becoming too loud. Vellum helped mute it down just enough. After foam mounting this main sentiment rectangle, I added the die cut hat and certificate images on each side using liquid glue and added a few sequins in matching colors.
