Simple yet colorful card

After some big absence, I am slowly getting back into action now. Today I have a fairly simple but colorful card to share. One of the super easy ways to add color to your cards is to use a colorful patterned paper for the panel. The Lawn Fawn perfectly plaid rainbow petite paper pack is the perfect fit.

Simple yet colorful card

I was making this card for a guy in my team, so I decided to not add flowers or anything girly on top. I know he has a cat, so I added a cat that wobbles just for a fun touch. Here’re the steps that I did

  1. Stamped and lightly watercolored a cat from the SSS Baby Party Animals stamp set and cut it out with a matching die.

  2. Used a foiled blue paper to die cut the word You and also some tiny little stars – both dies from Simon Says Stamp.

  3. Stamped and cut out a sentiment panel that says, “are pretty amazing” in matching blue ink.

  4. Cut out a panel from the rainbow paper to cover my entire card front. My card is a A2 top folding landscape card made with black cardstock.

  5. Rounded the corners on the rainbow panel as well as the card front and adhered them together. Also added washi tape at the top for little bit of extra interest.

  6. Adhered the die cut word You, the sentiment strip to the rainbow panel.

  7. For adhering the cat, I first decided to use the action wobble that came in April SSS Card kit, but that was giving too much height to the cat and did not look balanced. So I fan folded a tiny piece of paper, attached one end of it to the back of cat and the other to the card front for a simple diy wobble ;-)

  8. Finally I scattered three little stars around and called the project done.

Well, after all the days of being relatively inactive crafting wise, I am struggling a bit with jumping up my mojo. Funnily enough, I am not struggling with ideas to create stuff, but find myself dragging my feet when it comes to writing down blog posts. (So right now, I am a crafter with a writer’s block! It is a thing!) I promise, I will work my hardest to get through this and get back onto track. Thanks so much for your patience with me.
