Hi friends, the Spellbinders dies are still creating waves here in my craft space. Today I have a pretty wedding card to share with you all using the Shapeabilities Celebrate with Cake Etched Dies from the Happy collection by Sharyn Sowell. I did combine it with a couple bird dies and leafy branch from Let’s All Party! die set, Bright Days embossing folder and Nestabilities Fancy Edged Rectangles Dies.
Here’s the how-to:
Die cut a rectangle using the largest fancy edged die from blue cardstock. This came as part of an older Spellbinders card kit. Have I told you how these kits are great value for money? They have helped me build a great collection of patterned paper and cardstock in addition to everything else.
Emboss this rectangle using the bright days embossing folder. Love these delicate details!
Die cut the cake layers – I used only two out of three layers and used Distress Woodgrain Cardstock for the front most layer. The ledges in there make it look almost like frosting :-)
I also cut just the rectangle pieces for these layers from some scrap piece of cardstock, covered it in rose gold glitter washi tape and layered behind the white cake layers (The washi tape is from Spellbinders Winter Wishes card kit from Dec 2018. #valueofrmoney)
For the cake stand I used Tonic Studio’s Burnished Rose satin cardstock and craft foam in white adhered together with double sided tape.
Flowers and leaves – these were die cut from some of my leftover pieces of cardstock and glitter paper from previous projects.
Birds – the one thing I wished for in the die set Let’s All Party, was for it to have the two birdies that face each other, but since they both face same side, I had to get creative. I die cut one facing normal and for the other one, I turned my white glitter cardstock upside down while cutting. This way the pretty side was facing the other bird when I turned it right side up :-) I also covered another scrap piece of paper with same gold glitter washi tape and die cut a bird out of that one.
The blue rectangle that I have is slightly shorter than the standard card base. So I trimmed my cardbase a little bit from the longer side and used the leftover piece to stamp my sentiment. To match the curves of my fancy blue rectangle, I did run this strip of white through the die cutting machine too. #ocd
The sentiment itself comes from Simon Says Stamp Floral Bliss stamp sent and I used Altenew Rubellite ink to stamp it, because that colors matched my flowers perfectly.
After assembling the cake, flowers and birds, I was left with several tiny pink and white pieces that fell off from the flower centers and cake layers. I used these as I would use nuvo drops or something and sprinkled them around + added white ones to flower centers.
