Spellbinders | Large die of the month | Partial inlaid die cutting

Hi friends, a couple creating die cutting cards to share today. I did some inlaid die cutting – but only partial inlaid die cutting :-) and the results are so beautiful! Check these out:

I die cut the floral design from several different papers – gold mirrored cardstock, shimmery yellow cardstock and textured white cardstock. While doing each of these I made sure to pop out all the little pieces and preserve them in almost the same place where they belonged (kinda like a puzzle that is little bit spread out). That way I was able to piece these things together quickly when I was ready to assemble the cards.

Card 1:

I started by covering the front of a A2 sized top folding cardbase with a gold – teal – turquoise marbled design paper that came in one of the older Hero Arts kits. I cut out one more piece of white textured cardstock and die cut the design out of this one. I used it to frame the gold outline die cut and covered my card front when I adhered it together. The cut out piece of the textured white cardstock is what I used on my next card. Also, my favorite way to adhere delicate pieces like the floral outline is to use spray adhesive. I saw it in one of @LauraBassen’s videos on youtube and have been using it a lot lately. Thank you, @LauraBassen!

I used only the rose petals from my shimmery yellow cardstock to inlay those in. For one side, I outlined the leaf and cut out all the layers underneath it to create a fun open look. I highly recommend Tim Holtz mini craft snips for such detailed cutting. I don’t know how I worked without this tool before. :-)

On the left side, I had messed up a little and disconnected the white negative piece on an edge. To put these together, I added a very thin stripe of the same marble piece to cover my mistake (like I totally meant to do it!). For the sentiment, I added one black and gold one from an older Spellbinders card kits. To finish off, I sprinkled some gold stars and shiny black sequins (Thanks, @rubznaz for including these in the Instagram giveaway!).

Card 2:

For the second card I used a card that came in the Spellbinders card kit. These kits come with 10 beautiful white linen textured cards and white envelopes. I used one of the pink marbled patterned papers (again thank you, @rubznaz for the giveaway!) and die cut it out using the largest plain rectangle from Spellbinders Hemstitched rectangles die set. I adhered this panel on top of the white cardbase.

On top of this I adhered the white floral outline die cut piece. I filled in only the leaves this time, using the gold pieces. For the sentiment I used SimonSaysStamp’s ‘Thanks’ word and outline die. I cut the outline using white textured cardstock and the word using gold mirrored cardstock and layered them together. A generous sprinkling of gold confetti and stars and this project was done.
