Spellbinders NEW Artomology by Jane Davenport | Inspiration

Hi everyone,

I have a fun mixed media project to share today using some new foil plates and dies from Jane Davenport. For the focal point on this 9×12 canvas, I used the Show Ponies Glimmer Hot Foil plates from Artomology. I foiled and die cut the two sea horses and also die cut a few hearts. From then on, the idea just took a life of its own.

Here’s a general how-to of all the things that I did.

  1. Background:

  2. I used a 12×12 patterned paper that had kinda watercolored look. I enhanced this look by using Stormy Sky distress oxide ink on the edges and spreading it a bit with my ink dauber as well as just my fingers. I also stamped some dots with one of the stamps from Life Sparkle clear stamp set also by Jane Davenport.

  3. Next I used Distress grit paste and the Sketched Lines stencil from Altenew to add some texture to my background.

  4. On a couple different places, I tore a slit into the background and lined a small patterned paper behind it for a little something something.

  5. I also tore a piece of corrugated cardstock and adhered it in 3 different places along the edges.

  1. Focal point:

  2. After foiling and die cutting my sea horses, I used blending tools with Delicata inks in Golden Glitz an Pink Shimmer to enhance the colors more.

  3. Using dies from the same Show Ponies set with some glittery pink and gold mirrored cardstocks I cut out several hearts.

  4. Using Shapeabilities Tiara Rondelle Etched Dies with some silver mirrored cardstock, I cut out the rondelle circle for anchoring my sea horses

  5. For the foliage, I used several dies from past monthly kits by Spellbinders

  1. Assembling:

  2. I started by stamping my sentiments in two opposite corners. Both sentiments came from the Life Sparkle stamp set and I used Gina K amalgam ink for stamping it

  3. I used hot glue and added by rondelle circle to the background and then also added another stripe of torn corrugated paper + another little blue patterned paper stripe from my scraps to form a base to the rondelle circle.

  4. I adhered the foliage as well as sea horses on this base. I also hot glued some sea glass, some moss and a couple sea shells.

  5. As the last step, I added several colorful beads (pearls) using multi medium matte.

  6. I also hot glued several more stickers, words and pearls. All the stickers and words came from older kits from Spellbinders.

  7. And just because I could not leave it alone, I added some white highlights to the stamped sentiments.

Just love how it turned out. I managed to try several different ideas and techniques.
