1st of the month is here and we have a brand new challenge at Stamping Smiles Design Tic-Tac-Toe. Here’s the grid:

I chose the left most vertical row with color inspiration (I chose the picture below), Alpha Stamps and Background Wash.

Here’s what I created:

I used Strathmore Watercolor paper and second largest stitched rectangle die to cut out my main panel.

Next I stamped my sentiments. To line up all my alpha stamps, I used MISTI and a piece of scratch paper where I drew a straight line with a pencil. Using the line as my guide, I lined up all my alphabets for ‘thanks’ and stamped these to make sure they look right. These alphabets are from Altenew’s Modern Deco Alpha stamp set. When I was happy with how it looked, I simply switched the scratch paper for my real card panel. I used Ranger Archival ink in Paradise Teal color. On top of it I heat embossed using clear sticky Versa Mark ink and clear embossing powder. Love the raised effect on these letters.

Right underneath the ‘thanks’, I stamped one more sentiment from Altenew in Tangelo Orange Ranger Archival ink. Both these archival ink cubes came with Simon Says Stamp October 2016 card kit.

Next I masked off my sentiments using some blue painter’s tape and gave a light blue background wash to rest of the panel area using Gansai Tambi watercolors. When it dried, I went to town with SSS Nutty over you stamp set and stamped several little images. I used Tangelo Orange & Paradise Teal (Ranger Archival), Hint of Pesto (Tsukineko) colors for my images.

For additional interest, I dry embossed faux stitching lines using the same rectangle dies for embossing. This is a cool technique that let’s you get more from your supplies. I will do a quick tip video on this later. Here’s a closer look at all these gorgeous details:

Lastly, I cut out one more panel using the orange plaid paper from Lawn Fawn Fall plaid collection using the largest stitched rectangle die from SSS for a nice orange backdrop. I also added some twine, an acorn and some enamel dots from Freckled Fawn as embellishments. On top of the three little dots in teal color, I added tiny drops from Nuvo drops in Carribean Ocean color. I adhered my finished panel using foam tape and the orange backdrop using some scortape to my card base made out of Neenah black card stock.

Hope you liked this card. If you have any questions or comments about paper crafting things, please don’t hesitate to reach out. I will try my best to ‘unblock’ you ;-)
