Teacher gift / Framed art using Simon Says Stamp products

Hi friends, it’s been so long since I dropped in. Hope you all are doing fantastic. We are doing great! Last Tuesday was the last day of school before summer, so kids are home now and having fun :-)

This year my younger princess’s school Principal retired. She is a nice, kind lady whom we all admired a lot. So before the end of school, little Ms A wanted to take a gift for her. She surprised me by going with an intricate design instead of her usual critter themed one. :-) She loves the new Circular Lace stencil from new Simon Says Stamp release called Cherished. {I am so grateful to SSS for sending me this product to preview. Love, love, love it!}

So, here’s what we came up with:

Teacher gift - Framed Art using Simon Says Stamp paper crafting products

We started by taking a white picture frame that I had picked from Michaels when these were on sale. We opened the back of it and used the inside paper to cut out a piece of SSS White cardstock to size.

My younger one wanted to do that dab-dab for the stenciling (and yes, this whole thing except the outer lace tape on the frame itself is all her idea!). I taped the paper and the stencil together on my work surface and let her do the actual stenciling with mini blending tool. We used Hero Arts Light Teal ink for the dab-dab :-) This ink cube came in their My Monthly Hero April 2017 kit.

Next we used our MISTI to plan where we wanted the pretty gold Baroque Frame and arrange how we wanted the leaves stamped in the background. We removed the frame and stamped the leaves using SSS Green Apple ink. We also stamped our sentiment “Thankful for you” in Hero Arts Light Teal ink + “Forever” in Tsukineko Galaxy Gold ink. The leaf stamps are from SSS “Look for the Miracles” stamp set and the sentiments are from SSS “Lots of Thanks” stamp set. Again, Ms A enjoyed using the MISTI for all this stamping.

Finally we adhered some sequins in gold and blue (teal) and put our artwork in the frame. To give an extra something, I added the lace tape to the front of the frame which helped tie the color scheme white-teal-green together. I have had this tape in my stash for a long time now and honestly cannot remember where I got it from. If any of you do know, please let me know in the comments below.

I think the lace stencil adds the perfect delicate touch here. I will be definitely using it in many more projects. Also I found that the material of this stencil is pretty sturdy and works very well with little effort.
