I know I have been absent from this place for over last 3-4 days. Our company had taken us to The Solluna Resort at Jim Corbett National Park in Uttarakhand for a three-day outing :-)
We left on the night of 2nd Sept, Friday by 11.00pm almost and reached our destination by around 9.00 am the next day – 3rd Sept. We could’ve reached almost a couple hours earlier, but the gang stopped at Tadka hotel in Gajraula at 2.00 am for some snacks (chai-pakoda)!
The resort is on the NH121, in the dense forest area under leopard zone. At the hotel we were greeted by the staff cordially and shown to our rooms. Since our bus reached before the others, we got to choose our rooms :D
Deluxe Rooms from The Solluna Resort
Rooms were spacious, airy and full of tasteful ambience. The washbasin and doorknobs were made of real stones. Outside each room was a cute little pebble garden where we walked barefoot to get Acupressure. But my favourite part? No TV!
The surrounding area was also beautiful – lush green, since it is monsoon – with pretty flowers, butterflies and colourful birds fluttering all around. Right beside the resort a river – Ramganga – flows which immediately became our main attraction. The first day when I went there, I sat for hours mesmerized by the natural beauty all around.
(Hmmm.. makes me want to go back there right now… )
We also did a short, 2-3 hours trek to a waterfall nearby and across the river. It was super fun…
We did a safari to the jungle on Sunday – but as is expected during this season – no tigers! We did see deers, a huge lizard, emerald bird and a mongoose. We visited the shrine – Seetavani – where Seeta-maiya (from Ramayan) lived with her sons – Luv and Kush – when King Ram had sent her to exile.
Over and above all these attractions, what this place really wowed us with was – Excellent Food. Every item – South Indian, Chinese, North Indian – was cooked as it should be. At the same time the dishes were not layered with enormous amount of oil on top.
Chef Trilok Singh was also kind enough to share a couple recipes with me. Of course, I’ll share them with you. Keep watching this spare… :-)
Okay, so that was a fairly quick recap of our trip. Activities, ambience and adventure – this place has it all. Should you like to get more details, please check out: http://www.sollunaresort.com Best time to go would be between November to March, so you would have to start planning right away for your next adventure. Who knows, you might even see a tiger…
Are you game?
