Two-for-one cards using Spellbinders Amazing Paper Grace die of the Month for Dec 2020

Hello my crafty friends, hope you are all doing well and staying safe.

When you have a die like this month’s APG die set – beautiful floral outline that covers the whole 5×7 card front what do you do? I considered options like

  1. even cutting out the outline and coloring it may be?

But nothing tickled my fancy this time. I wanted to

  1. stretch the die to do something more and

  2. also wanted the whole thing to be quick and simple to create.

So I decided to create two cards – die cut once, but separate the two floral corners and use them on two different cards. Yes, with this idea, you can check both those boxes :) Since this die has a lot of larger pieces and not something too detailed or intricate, the cards come together really quickly.

Key Ingredients:

  1. Spellbinders Amazing Paper Grace die of the month for December 2020

  2. Spellbinders Glimmer kit of the month for December 2020

  3. Elegant Infinity – APG Die of the Month Club March 2020

  4. Gold mirrored cardstock

  5. Patterned paper with gold foiling

Steps:

  1. Start by die cutting the entire design of the APG die from gold mirrored cardstock.

  2. Separate the two corners and do a little bit of fussy cutting to smooth edges of leaves etc.

  3. Use foam tape on the back to make sure the pieces stay together. Don’t remove the release paper just yet.

  4. For the purple card:

  5. Die cut the word Congrats from March 2020 APG kit.

  6. Cut out a piece of patterned paper to be 5×7 inches. Mine was a tad bit smaller, so I used glittery gold tape on one side to extend it.

  7. Use the larger die cut (and foam mounted) piece on this card, along with the Congrats sentiment.

  8. For the blue-gray card:

  9. Cut out the square. It has some un-even edges as far as the design is concerned, I trimmed those off.

  10. Use the final square to cut out a backing from the Pearl cardstock.

  11. Secure all pieces of the other rose die cut corner using foam tape on the back just like you did with the other card. Don’t remove the release paper just yet.

  12. With the release paper still on, place this die cut rose corner on the square and decide where it should go. Based on this tape down the sentiment hot foil and the side design hot foil from Dec 2020 Glimmer club kit. Use brass hot foil to add these foil details on the front.

  13. Foam mount the rose die cut corner. Scor and adhere the backing piece to complete the card. (In case you are wondering what I am talking about here, watch this clip).

That’s it. There you have it – 2-for-1 cards that are quick and easy to put together. Hope you give this idea a try.
