Hello my dear crafty souls, Happy Valentines Day to you all. Hope you are able to give yourself a little crafty treat today :-)
The card I have for you today, also started as a part of coloring challenge and also is a lovey-dovey card. It says, “you’re so Sweet” :-)
I used Clearly Besotted Simply Scrumptious stamp set for this card. I used the strawberry vine / wreath image and stamped it off on printer paper first and without re-inking stamped on my Strathmore watercolor paper. This technique is called second generation stamping and it gives you very light color / almost no lines. I chose this effect so I could add color with my Zig Clean Clear markers and make it look almost painted and not stamped.
After I was happy with the wreath, I added strawberries and flowers. The stamps with bigger strawberry images had not been seasoned yet, so they did not spread the color evenly. I liked the effect which almost appeared to have some highlighting, so I went with it. When I touched those images with my Zig markers, I did not go over those places with highlights. I left them alone :-)
Next I stamped a sentiment from the same set in the middle of the wreath and a added few flowers.
Finally I die cut the piece with Simon Says Stamp stitched rectangle dies. To get the size I want, I used the die two times – die cut one side, moved the die and die cut from the other end.
I made a small boo-boo on one side of this piece, so I added a butterfly on top. This little image was heat embossed with white embossing ink and colored in with Zig Clean and Clear markers. I also embellished each flower with a Doodlebug Lily White Glitter Sprinkle Epoxy sticker.
Finally I assembled the whole card on Simon Says Stamp 120 lb white cardstock by layering with some of the patterned papers from my stash.
