Wish you all a very happy new year, my crafty friends! I’m so grateful to all of you for your support this past year. I’m hoping you will continue the same in 2017 too!! Thank you, thank you, thank you so much!!!
Today I have a really easy card to share. This card used several leftover pieces from other projects.
Here are some simple tricks that I used while creating this card:
Use three simple images – one critter / person image and two more surrounding pieces. I had created a Christmas card using Hero Arts Winter Time Fun stamp set for a tic-tac-toe challenge. While making that card I had stamped and die cut several different images from Winter Time Fun stamp and die set. I picked the big Christmas tree, the small mailbox and the cute little penguin for my card today.
Anchor the pieces using some sort of a background For another tic-tac-toe challenge, I had created a spinner card that says ‘Apple of my Pie’. For this one, I had created a heart die cut on the front using a patterned paper. I had used the negative die cut piece on that card. I used the positive cut out heart to anchor pieces from my scene on this card and also to hold my sentiment. I adhered my images onto this heart using some glossy accents glue and some foam tape.
Use a sentiment that ties in the scene My sentiment here is also from the same Hero Arts stamp and die set and it pulls the whole theme of sending (mailbox) + warm fluffy hugs (penguin) together. Since I cannot create a card without some bling, I stamped this sentiment twice – once using Achival Black ink and another time using versa mark (a clear sticky ink). I then heat embossed it using sparkle embossing powder. This powder is clear, but it has minuscule sparkles trapped inside it.
To add a little more interest to this card front, I stamped random snowflakes from the same stamp set all over my black card front using versa mark ink for a subtle, tone-on-tone look. I also added some sparkly sequins, a couple clear droplets and a strip of washi tape on the side to finish my card for today.
