Altenew – Majestic Blooms and trying new colors

Hey friends, sorry this week’s post is a little bit delayed… mainly because I have been creating several different cards. Ironic, isn’t it?

Anyways, let’s check out today’s card. I kept it pretty simple and straightforward because of two reasons – I was playing with a new stamp set and I was also playing with new inks!

Altenew Majestic Bloom card

The card base is one from the Spellbinders monthly card kit. More on that in next post ;-)

This time when I ordered stamps from Altenew I also ordered the purple ink cubes from them. These Altenew crisp inks are water-based, dye inks and they dry fast. Because of these properties, they are not suitable for combining with watercoloring (these will bleed) or heat embossing on their own (they will not stay sticky long enough for the powders to stick). But I love how they give a smooth coverage, don’t stamp blotchy and their colors remain vibrant event after drying. Another great reason? In addition to bigger ink pads, these also come in small cubes and a set of four cubes in shades of the same color (like the purple one I used here) is really very cost effective. I am in love and I have also ordered the yellow inks set (summer afternoon).

For this card, I stamped the main flower from Majestic Bloom stamp set on SSS White cardstock. I used all four purple inks – one for each layer. The darkest for the outline, the lightest for the entire flower area and the middle two for two layers. I also stamped the center of the flower using Tsukineko Brilliance Dew Drop Inkpad, Galaxy Gold. Love how it adds a subtle shimmer. This time I got the matching dies also for this stamp set and used the flower one to die cut it out.

On my main card base, I stamped the leaves with two shades of green and added the last layer with Ranger Archival black ink. I stamped my sentiment using another of my new favorite stamp set from Altenew – Sentiments and Quotes.

I adhered the die cut flower on top using foam tape and cut out the parts that were sticking outside the card base. Lastly I added a few iridescent sequins as embellishment and stamped the words Thank-You from Majestic Bloom stamp set on the inside of this card to finish it.

Easy yet elegant!
