Hello friends, today I have multiple cards to share using a technique that I haven’t done in a while – creating a patterned paper using smaller images.
For today’s cards I combined several different stamp sets to create a floral pattern. I used Altenew Painted Flowers, Simon Says Stamp Friends of Life and Simon Says Stamp Cone Building (this is an older set and I think it is now discontinued).
I also did a little planning and testing with several different inks before settling on the following inks
Archival Black ink for the flower outlines and centers
Simon Says Stamp Slate ink for the leafy branches
Altenew Warm Sunshine + Altenew Caramel Toffee for largest flower
Studio G Red ink + Simon Says Stamp Hot Lips for medium flowers
Distress oxide ink Cracked Pistachio + ColorBox Glacier Lake for smallest flowers
I also used the Cracked Pistachio, Hot Lips and Warm Sunshine for the tiny little flowers and added Slate colored dots to their centers.
I started by cutting a Simon Says Stamp white card stock in half and stamping a pattern of flower bunches – first some larger layered flowers from Altenew Painted Flowers, then some leafy vines from SSS Friends of life and then some tiny little flowers from SSS Cone Building stamp set to fill in the large white spaces. I also added some dot clusters in corresponding colors to fill some more white spaces.
Once I was happy with my pattern, I die cut it out using Simon Says Stamp Stitched Rectangle die for one card. I layered thin stripes of gold foiled paper on two opposite corners. These were from my leftover scrap pieces. I also used the same paper to die cut a gold word “hello” using the painted hello die from SSS.
From left over piece, I die cut a rectangle using Simon Says Stamp Scallop border dies. I also used the same die on some glittery gold paper and layered it under the scalloped patterned paper. I also used the same glittery gold paper to layer a thin strip on the top of this paper. Again I used the same ‘hello’ die and the same paper + some more textured white paper to die cut the same word and layered it on top. As finishing touch, I used one of the leafy dies from SSS ‘Forget me not’ die set from SSS to add a little something on top. :-)
Finally I used the leftover of leftover piece to cut a banner out. On one side, I used one of the Spellbinders Hemstitch rectangle dies to cut a tail on one side. I layered the glittery gold paper underneath to show through the hemstitch holes and also a pink patterned paper from my leftover stash to highlight it. I did die cut the word hello three times – once using white paper, second time using glittery gold paper and third time using pink paper. I also used a matching gold washi tape on one side of this gray card.
There you have it. Three cards and I have one little leftover piece that I saved for some other project. Hope you give this idea a try and don’t forget to let me know how you like it.
