Creating dimension using 'You are a Dream' stamp set {Video Tutorial}

Hello everyone! Bonnie here from Bonnie Carollee Makes Cards! I have another card from Varada Sharma Design’s You Are Beautiful release featuring You Are A Dream stamp set (shop here | shop on Etsy). This digital stamp set includes a gorgeous floral and many supporting sentiments. I almost always include dimension in my cards and decided I would make this a focal point for this card.

I began by printing the image on Neenah Classic Crest 80lb cardstock. The floral was COPIC coloured:

  • Flower - R59, 56, 81

  • Leaves - G40, 43, 46

  • Flower centre - W5, 7

The clean lines of this image make it easy to colour. I find some colour families in Copics easier to blend than others. The reds required two applications but the green blended beautifully with just a little bit of ˜scrubbing˜ between the tones. The flower was fussy cut. A black gel pen was used to further define the stamens and the flower centre.

As I considered the design with a focus on dimension, I decided to build up a leafy base. The image was printed three more times in slightly different sizes so I could "harvest" the leaves. Because the green tones blended so easily, the additional colouring did not take a lot of time.

The additional leaves were tacked together to form two clusters; one on either side of the base. The floral image was arranged in the middle. A combination of black sheet foam and black foam squares were used to adhere the elements creating dimension. The three leafy sprays on top of the flower were adhered directly on the card base.

The sentiment was coloured with the same greens used on the leaves creating an ombre effect. It was mounted on foam and adhered to the card. To finish up the card, Ebony Black Nuvo Drops detail the top of the stamens. Green sequins topped with Morning Dew Crystal Drops highlight the flower. Studio Katia's Clear Crystal Drops give the illusion of dew drops on the leaves and petals.

Thank so much for dropping by!

Do give it a try and let me know how you like it :-)
