Cute floral hair accessories – using Large Die of the Month Feb 2020 from Spellbinders

If you have a friend / colleague who adores his little granddaughters – what do you do as a crafter? You make pretty hair accessories for those little princesses, of course! :D And that’s exactly what I did!!

In my book:

  1. Rule number 1: any excuse to craft and spread some cheer, is a great excuse to craft and spread some cheer!

  2. Rule number 2: Never forget rule number 1!

I used the latest Large Die of the Month from Spellbinders (of course!) to make these:

I started by planning sets of 3 colors each from my felt stash (most of these are linked below), so that I could layer those to form flowers. Then I used the round-ish dies to cut them out. I also die cut 2 gray circles per flower using the medium sized die and green leaves. The gray circles became the backers for holding the flower and leaves together + for attaching the finished piece to the hair clip / headband. For flower centers, I picked matching colors of small buttons

Finally, I adhered these together with my trusted Surebonder detail glue gun and also attached them to the plain headbands and hair clips (also linked below).

The back of a headband is pretty straightforward. I sandwiched the headband material in between a flower and another gray backer, and added hot glue gun so that only the sides of these gray circles were adhered and the band itself can move freely.

For the hair clips, I made two slits through the second gray backer, passed my clip through it and then adhered the whole thing to the flower (it’s gray backer).

That’s all. I do plan on making more of these and hopefully will also list them for selling on my website / facebook / instagram store. Do keep an eye out for these. :)
