Hi friends, yes we are still talking about planters. :-)
I promise we will soon be talking about paper crafts. In fact on Sept 1st, Kathy will be starting the Daily Marker 30 day challenge again and I plan to join as best as I can. I will be sharing lots more paper crafting inspiration here too. I do want to encourage you also to join this fun challenge. Check out all the details here.
And we will be starting #STAMPtember – a month long paper crafting party by SimonSaysStamp. #TotsAdorbs
Back to today’s post – vertical planters. I saw some of these in Joann and also on Amazon:
I liked them. But the price tag of $34 for one strip of 3 planters wasn’t interesting to me. So I DIYed them.
Luckily, I found 3 fence pickets in my own yard. They had really got weathered, but me and my girls scrubbed these clean with some wire brushes. Then I treated it with wood polish and spray painted these lightly with white paint.
As you can probably tell by now, I do save a lot of empty cans and bottles and repurpose them around the house. I had 6 tin cans saved up (and not yet used anywhere else). I used some small nails to hammer these tin cans to the wood fence pickets. As I had 3 pickets and 6 cans, I just went with 2 cans per picket.
Then I added some floral foam along with some artificial succulents + ferns in each of the containers and mounted these on the wall using D-link picture hangers.
For me the only thing I had to buy was the spray paint, floral foam + fake plants and D-link picture hangers.
I love how it turned out and love the look on people’s faces when I tell them “I made this” :-) It is really a lot easier than you think.
Do give it a try.
