Easy gatefold card with a large floral gate

Clearly, I am playing catch up here - I ended up sharing so many cards on my Instagram lately and didn't get around to posting them here.

So in this blog post, I am sharing two ideas to use with any of the large floral designs you might have already on hand.

Gatefold cards with large floral gate

For both of these, the idea is very simple.

  • Create an A2 card as usual

  • Create a card front with patterned paper and set it aside

  • Create a separate panel that is about 0.5 inch larger than the A2 card either horizontally (blue card) or vertically (pink card)

    • On this separate panel, heat emboss a large floral design.

    • Mount it on the card front as a gate fold. The blue one is adhered to the back on right side of a normal portrait A2 card. For the pink card, a top folding card is flipped upside down (so that it opens at the top and the panel is attached to the back side from the top.

    • To give it some fun twist, partially fussy cut or partially die cut around the design.

  • Heat emboss sentiment on the patterned paper and attach it to card front, leaving the gate panel open.

Do check out the these cards in action on my Instagram. Should bring more clarity to the steps above also.

For your convenience, I am sharing links to the supplies I’ve used or the ones you can use for making similar cards – click on the picture or link to go directly to the product. Wherever available, I have used affiliate links, which means when you make a purchase, I receive a small commission (at no extra cost to you) which I use to run this blog. I truly appreciate your support!

Thank you and big hugs!
