No-line watercolor using You Are My Dream stamp set

Hi everyone! It's Melinda here and I'm back again to share some no-line watercolor inspiration. I really love a large open floral image to color and "You Are My Dream" stamp set fit the bill perfectly.

As I said in my previous blog post, I don't have a watercolor friendly printer so I use carbon paper and trace the image, this one is easy because of its large size.

I started with my background and used some blues and a bit of purple. For the first layer of my floral I used Daniel Smith Quinacridone Coral. For the leaves I used a mix of greens left on my palette, I can't stand to waste even a tiny bit of pigment. I went back to the flower so the leaves could dry. I added a bit darker mix of Coral and used a bit of Quinacridone Magenta so my flower would have some dimension and not look too flat. I just added a dark vein of green on the leaves to finish them off and used a bit of metallic gold for the center of my flower.

After the flower was completely dry I added some stamens with a micron pen. I also took a script background stamp and using gold and brown inks stamped it randomly around the panel.

At first I was going to leave my card blank and add a sentiment as needed, but I had a change of heart and used a thanks die cut I had found after giving my craft room a good clean.

I hope you'll give no-line watercoloring a try. It's so much fun. Remember to be kind to yourself and keep trying, you'll get it. If all else fails these can turn into some amazing die cuts.

Thanks for stopping by!
