‘October Fest’ Release Instagram hop and prizes to be won!

Hi everyone, today we are excited to bring you a Instagram hop for our ‘October Fest’ release. I will share details on how to participate (and win!) below in the post. But first let us check out my card for today, shall we? :-)

I am showcasing our Special Occasions stamp set. This has some beautiful Magnolias meant for coloring in. I love these flowers but white flowers intimidate me. I don’t think I can color them well yet, so I did something slightly different.

I used PowerPoint to size and print my images. I used Canson multi media paper to do the printing because I knew I wanted to watercolor. Over the years I have collected several Daniel Smith dot samples from Simon Says Stamp – some from their card kits and a few I purchased when they had made samples based on several artists’ favorite colors. I cannot find these anymore on their store, but Gansai Tambi watercolors will work equally well, so I am linking to those below.

I watercolored the leaves and only the flower centers. For the petals, I used my trusted Prismacolor .005 XtraFine Black Fine Line Marker and added details. I did not add any color on top at all. Yes, I did add very faint pencil lines first to make sure it looked all okay, and only went with the liner once I was happy with the result.

Rest of the cards were simple

  1. I fussy cut the larger flower leaving a thin white border around. I used the Wrapped Stitch rectangles die to cut a patterned paper panel. This paper is from American Crafts Vicki Boutin 6×8 Color Kaleidoscope Paper Pad.

  2. Using the same die, I cut the panel with the other flower arrangement.

  3. Finally I added gems on both these panels and called this project done.

Another couple sentiment-less cards for me. Do let me know how you like these.
