Simon Says Stamp | August 2018 card kit – Mandy’s Flowers – Card idea 2

Hi friends, welcome back to my blog where we are showcasing a series of cards made using Simon Says Stamp August 2018 card kit – Mandy’s Flowers. You can check out all the cards in this series here. Here’s today’s card idea where I combined the stamp set with stripes of patterned papers.

Just like yesterday’s card I stamped a floral image and die cut a stitched rectangle. I used Archival Black ink on Strathmore watercolor paper. Using my waterbrush and Zig real brush markers – pink, yellow, green and blue – I colored this image. I also stamped a couple more images – a tiny spring of leaves and the sentiment ‘thank you’ – also using Archival Black ink.

I wanted to add something special to the background, so I cut out two stripes of patterned paper from the BoBunny Early Bird 6×6 Paper Pad patterned papers (included in SSS August 2018 card kit) and layered them towards bottom of the rectangle. I also used a piece of Vellum and dry embossed using Darice Embossing Folder – circle interlock. Vellum being thin, when it passed through the embossing folder and machine, it kinda made white lines at the embossed spots that gave it an interesting look.

Finally I layered everything onto a ready made green card base and finished it off with a few Doodlebug Tiny Hearts Shape Sprinkles Enamel Shapes So Punny (also included in the kit). I also went over the pink heart with pink Spectrum Noir alcohol marker to make it match my shade of pink ;-)

Do you like to add patterned papers to cards where you have stamped colored your focal point? What is your favorite way of adding patterned paper to card designs? Do share.
