Simon Says Stamp “Sending Sunshine” Release Inspiration 1

Hello everyone! I am so excited to share my first inspiration for “Sending Sunshine” release from Simon Says Stamp!!

I also played with a new-to-me medium / technique with this card – using Mica Powder for coloring. I won an Instagram giveaway by @papersparklesz not too long ago. My prize included a box of Mica powders, so I researched online and found a way to use it on my card. :-)

I started by picking a patterned paper that looks like a purple watercolored background. This paper came from the same paper pad which I used to create my gallery wall. I treated this paper with powder tool and then stamped the beautiful Bohemian Lave background image using Versa Mark – clear sticky ink. This way my powder would stick only to areas where I wanted it to. On top of this, I used bare minimum mica powder with a dry paintbrush and painted over the stamped image. I loved the look this delicate mandala like image brought to the strong purple watercolored look.

I just did not want to add too many other things on top of this card to let the shimmery background take center stage. So, I only added a die cut sentiment on top. For this sentiment, I used two layers of shiny foiled papers – silver one for the outline bottom later and shiny purple one for the top ‘thanks’ word. I also added just three little flat backed gems from Hero Arts to complete this panel and then mounted it on a shiny silver cardbase.
