Spellbinders and Hero Arts | Make a wish with a Cupcake

Hello friends, I have a fun card to share with you that combines dies from Spellbinders with stamps from Hero Arts March card kit.

Make a wish with cupcake

To start this project, I lined up all the dies for the cupcake + candle on card front and stamped my sentiment. After getting dry embossed I would not get a clean impression, so I did the stamping before doing anything else.

I struggled a little bit with making the card front dry embossed on this one. I was trying to use the Echo Park Modern Chevron stencil to dry emboss, but somehow I could not get my machine to give a more deeper impression than what you see here. So I just rolled with what I got. :-)

I used the dies from Spellbinders Large Die of the month kit to get my cupcake and candle created. Each item – the cupcake liner, frosting and candle – has two layers of dies in this kit. I used a shiny pink colored cardstock for the layer below and a white cardstock for the layer on top. For the candle I used a Spectrum Noir yellow GB6 pen and colored the flame. Next I adhered both layers for each component using glossy accents.

I attached same glossy accents to adhere candle and cupcake liner to the card front and then foam mounted frosting in between then for some dimension (and also because I love lots of frosting :-D).

Next I stamped the confetti image from Hero Arts (same card kit stamp set) using Simon Says Stamp Hot Lips ink because that was the one which matched my cardstock. Finally I sprinkled some iridescent sequins around and called this card done.

Hope you like this fun card. I’m sure just by changing some colors of cardstock, this can be easily changed for a fun boy card. Will try that some time.
