Spellbinders APG Die of the month kit for August 2020

I am sure you have seen the beautiful and clever Amazing Paper Grace dies for this month, right? It’s a cute little telephone – the old kind – the one where you dragged a number on a dial all the way and then let it fall back in its place before doing the same thing with the next number. :-) It is so super duper cute!

This die set is supposed to be a interactive card shaped like a telephone and having vignettes. You can check out how to make that using this video.

But I decided to make something slightly different – a 5×5.5 card with a telephone on top, but with with a message or a gift card, that can be pulled out.

Key Ingredients:

  1. Spellbinders APG Die of the month kit for August 2020

  2. Spellbinders Elegant 3D Cards Cinch and Go Flowers III Etched Dies

  3. Spellbinders Stay Wild – Card Kit of the Month Club

Steps:

  1. Create a card base that is 5×5.5. I just went with this size because it fit the large telephone die perfectly. I am sure 6×6 card will work too.

  2. Trim a patterned paper panel for the card front.

  3. Die cut the pieces.

  4. I used Cinch and Go dies for the flower, and May 2019 card kit dies for the leaves. I also embossed the leaves.

  5. For the dial itself I used a scrap paper of a copper mirrored cardstock and layered the things together.

  6. Assemble the flower and add a brad in the middle.

  7. Attach the white message label / small card to the handset piece. Using MISTI stamp the message on it and also the label with the arrow and the label PULL.

  8. Adhere the telephone to the patterned paper panel using craft foam pieces / foam tape to create a well for the message piece to slide in and out.

  9. Finish out by assembling the dial, attaching the flower + leaves and adding the finished front panel to cardbase.
