Spellbinders | Card kit of the month September 2019 | Extras only
Hi friends, 3 more projects today – all using only Card Kit Extras for September 2019 Card Kit of the Month from Spellbinders.
So, this month’s card kit extras are:
And here are the projects I made with these:
Project 1: Framed Art 1
For my first project, I combined some of the die cut shapes with a couple stamps from this month’s Spellbinders Stamp of the Month kit and another background stamp – Tammy Tutterow Designs Dear Ruby. And yes, I did all this on a 5×7 canvas panel so that I could frame it in one of the 5×7 frames.
I started by stamping only portions of my background stamp on two corners using Distress Oxide Stormy Sky ink. Next I placed the panel inside my MISTI, arranged all the pieces and planned where I wanted a leaf and berries stamps to go. I stamped both these with Distress Oxide Stormy Sky ink.
Rest was easy. I added all my paper shapes (die cuts) – some with liquid glue and some with foam tape. Also I added a few enamel rocks.
I used a normal frame for these, but I am realizing that with the thickness of the canvas panel and the enamel dots / layers I add on top, it becomes hard to keep the front glass also in the frame along with everything else. But I do love the framed look more than the unframed one. Any suggestions on how I can achieve both – have the layers and keep the frame? I’d love to hear your thoughts. :-)
Project 2: Framed Art 2
For this one, I combined some neutral + gold pieces from the die cuts and combined it with the rich blue cardstock from the card kit. I used Diamond Netting embossing folder on this cardstock panel and tore the edges to distress them. I also did some ink blending on the edges with Distress Oxide Stormy Sky ink + Black Soot distress ink to give it a more finished look.
To ground my mason jar (and to hide the horizontal line where I had edges of the embossing folder met, I added a glittery gold washi tape (part of an older Spellbinders card kit). And yes, I realized I had embossed and debossed edges on the panel as the embossing folder was a little bit shorter than my panel. But I decided to make that “part of the plan” with this washi tape ;-)
Just a few metallic gold gems from Pretty Pink Posh finished off this panel enough to mount it on the canvas panel, frame it and call this project done.
Project 3: Birthday Card
Finally, I created a clean and simple card. My favorite kind.
That’s it, those are my three projects for the card kit extras for this month. Let me know in the comments below which one inspired you the most :-)
