Spellbinders | Cut and Emboss folders

Hi friends, today I have two cards to share – both using Spellbinders Floral Reflection Cut and Emboss folder. This is a new-kid-on-the-block – it’s an embossing folder that can cut bits and pieces out a design. Ready to check out how the output looks? Here you go:

Card 1:

This is a basic card that uses the embossing folder just as it is supposed to be used, with just a minor twist. The sandwich to use with the Spellbinders Platinum Die Cutting Machine from bottom to top is: Platform Plate, Cut and Emboss Folder with cardstock inside and one Cutting Plate.

I used a patterned paper from older Spellbinders kits for this. The only twist in the tale I added, was to die cut a word from the center before emboss-cutting it. I placed my trimmed paper panel inside the folder to align and see exactly where I wanted the ‘happy’ to be die cut. Since the folder has identical design on both flaps, it is quite easy to decide this placement. This ‘happy’ die comes from March 2019 Small die of the Month kit from Spellbinders.

After die cutting the word, I cut-embossed the panel, mounted it on a glittery cardbase (store bought, link below) and added another stamped and fussy cut banner that says ‘Everything’. This stamp comes from Happy Sentiments stamp set from Spellbinders. This was a ‘thank-you’ gift to all club members during last holidays. (Thanks, Spellbinders !!) I did not add any other embellishments etc, since the card base and its peeking parts are glittery enough.

Card 2:

With this one I played with a little.

After cutting up a white cardstock panel that meets the size of my design, I added three colors of distress inks – Picked Raspberry, Mustard Seed and Salty Ocean to the inside of my embossing folder. I also spritzed it with some water using mini mister. Then I added my white panel inside and ran it through my Platinum 6. The effect was colorful and fun. Love it :-)

Instead of sentiment, I used a tag here that came in one of the older Spellbinders kits (Aug 2018 card kit). On top of this I added a flower I had made for some other project using the Lattice Heart die set that came in Spellbinders Large die of the Month kit for Jan 2018. For the leaves, I used blue and gold cardstock from my stash with Shapeabilities Floral Berry Accents dies.

After everything was layered and adhered down with foam tape and glue dots, I added several jewels in matching colors from Little Things from Lucy’s Cards to complete these project.

There you have it – two different ways to use the cut and emboss folders. I do feel like we can do several more ideas with these and I will be sharing them here as I create with them. So, do watch this space and my social media channels for more stuff :-)
