Spellbinders | Stamp of the Month August 2019

Kids are back to school since last week and that means cards with books, backpacks and more, right?

Hello and welcome! Today I have a card that uses Spellbinders + FSJ Stamp of the Month kit that’s just perfect for a book-lover :-)

I started by stamping the images on watercolor paper using GinaK Amalgam black ink and coloring them with Ooku watercolor brush markers. I used Yellowish Brown, Silver for the books. I also used some Antique Linen with a water brush to give the books some added interest. For the apple I used Ooku markers again – Bright red + Vermilion and for the leaf Grass Green. Then I used matching dies to cut these out.

I used Neenah Desert Storm top folding card base for this card. All around the front I used other stamps from the kit to create a stamped pattern of books. Simon Says Stamp Barely Beige ink worked perfectly for this part. On one of the stamps I had originally practiced stamping using the GinaK Black Amalgam ink and it had some residue (as you can see from bottom right corner), but that didn’t bother me much. So I went with it :-)

Next I die cut a Fancy Edged Rectangle from Simon Says Stamp Fog cardstock. On this I layered my two colored stacks of books and also stamped my sentiment using the same black ink. Finally I adhered to the center of my card using foam tape and finished off with Nuvo drops as embellishments.
