Stamping on patterned paper

Hello and welcome to my blog. Today I have two cards to share with you. These are cards which I made way back when (April 2017, using Hero Arts My Monthly Hero card kit!). I just haven’t been able to put some time into blogging and sharing them here with you. I’m sorry about that :-(

On both of today’s cards I’ve stamped on a patterned paper. This is a super easy way to create some interesting backgrounds or even interesting focal points. The patterned paper already has some color and pattern onto it, so you can use that to your advantage. You can either let the color these on the paper itself guide the color theme of your project or you can introduce a whole another color with your stamping and have fun with it.

So, without further ado, let’s see how.

“You are one of a kind” card:

On this card, I used the pattern paper, picked up the star theme from it, but introduced my own color – black and grey to the mix. It’s been so long I don’r remember the exact grey / black I used, but I think it was archival black ink. For all my images I used the same color and also went with a similar color for my card base to help tie everything together.

I used Hero Arts MMH April kit’s stamp set to stamp a pretty dress, a necklace and a pair of shoes on a Pinkfresh Studio paper. This paper has diagonal strips and tiny stars. I kept the same theme and added a vertical row of stars using the same ink as the dress. This row of stars stamp came from Simon Says Stamp’s Seeing Stars set which came in August 2016 card kit.

Next I stamped the sentiment (also from MMH stamp set) and adhered the panel onto my card base. Lastly I added a int of bling using some gold stickles and a couple stars to complete the card. The confetti stars came from SSS Feb 2017 card kit. {I just love it when products from different companies just work together. ;-) }

With that glittery finish, my card was all done, I honestly love this card with all the bling, stars and a beautiful message this card was so fun and easy to make. Also, this card is good for any occasion, birthdays, anniversaries, or just a card for someone special to you.

“You are the best” card:

For this card, I wanted to add a stylish outfit. Instead of stamping on plain white paper and then coloring it, I decided to give it a fun twist by stamping on a couple patterned papers and die cutting the images. I used two different pattern papers to stamp a shirt and a cute pair of pants. In this case, I picked three patterned papers from the same paper pack (for background panel, shirt, pants) and let that color scheme drive my project’s color scheme.

To stay with an abstract theme, I decided not to add the girl’s face etc and keep it as though it was a mannequin. I foam mounted both the images on a black and white pattern paper that has a design like watercolor brush strokes. I also added couple small hearts in pink just-because :-) I love the base patterned paper for this card because it gives the card a fashionista/chic look and makes the focal point just steal the spotlight.

Next I stamped a message which says “you are the best” in black and pink ink on a white cardstock. To stay with the chic vibe I die-cut the cardstock into a pretty frame. Using foam squares to add the sentiment I placed it directly beside the pants that go with the shirt. Since the jeans had a heart pattern onto them I wanted to carry that design out into the patterned paper so I stamped two pink hearts on the paper beside the shirt. Now that this was done I just had to add on some summer and bubbly bling so I stuck on some enamel dots onto the card. These dots match the tiny little paint splatters the backdrop has and pull the whole design together. I also added a matching teal-white string to the top of the card for a little extra something.

Having all papers for this card from the same collection was a huge help because all images were already color coordinated. Easy peasy! :-)
