Using journaling cards for making handmade greeting cards (sounds like a mouthful, eh?) is one of my favorite techniques to go for. Journaling cards or Project Life cards are like colorful patterned papers that are perfect for using as focal points on cards. Today’s card using one such journaling card from Authentique’s Classique Beauty collection.
For this card, I primarily worked only on the journaling card and then layered it against another journaling card from the same collection while mounting on the main card base.
To enhance the journaling card, I did three things:
added a die cut word “because” from My Favorite Thing’s “because” stamp and die set.
stamped the words “you are the best” from the same “because” set, using Black Archival ink
added a cluster of punched flowers and leaves and an enamel dot in matching yellow color. The leaf punches are from Martha Stewart and the papers are from my stash. The flower punch is an old one, again from my stash. I will link to similar ones below.
To tie the whole design together, I layered this top focal point with another journaling card from the same set. I also stamped a few round spots in Tsukineko Brilliance Galaxy Gold ink and added a few spots of gold stickles.
Absolutely love how this one turned out. I hope I am inspiring you to give this idea a try.
