I just realized today, that I had not played with this month’s card kit till now!! My bad. Sorry about that. Well, I got so excited with all the coloring stuff going on for Kathy’s coloring challenge and I kept playing there! This challenge is full of inspiration, ideas, prizes and Kathy is so encouraging! If you haven’t checked it out, you absolutely should.
Okay, so let’s check out today’s card now. For this one, I combined Simon Says Stamp Feb 2016 card kit with MFT Stitched Hearts Stax dies and made a window shaker.
On one of the patterned papers I lined up the largest SSS stitches rectangle die and the largest heart die from MFT stitched heart stax dies. I used some masking tape to hold them in place while I ran it through my die cutting machine.
I removed the dies and separated the heart (positive piece) from the area around it (negative piece). Then I temporarily adhered the negative piece onto my card base so I could figure out where to cut on the front of the card.
This card base is a standard sized card made using SSS ivory cardstock. I removed the stitched rectangle, but brought back the stitched heart die and snapped it in place exactly on top of the already cut out portion on the negative piece. I taped the die in place, opened my card, so only the front panel would get cut and ran it through my die cutting machine.
Next I took my card to my MISTI and carefully arranged the sentiment stamps on the inside of the card, right through the cut of heart.
I used SSS black ink to stamp the sentiments and set the card aside to dry (ask me how I know the ink stays wet for a few seconds!).
For the shaker, I used the outside edge of the largest heart die as my guide and cut out two pieces from a piece of packaging material. One of these I adhered to the back side of the patterned paper using super sticky tape. Over that I added foam tape on all the edges being careful to not leave any areas open. I added a mix of heart shaped confetti that came in the same kit to the inside of my shaker. After I removed the backing paper from the foam tape, I sealed my shaker shut using the second piece of clear packaging material that I had cut out.
Next I added more foam tape to the outside edges of my patterned paper to make sure the edges are at the same level as the shaker window and mounted the whole thing onto my card base.
Finally for embellishments, I added a couple banner shapes cut out of some other patterned papers that came in the kit.
That’s all! A non valentine-y / birthday card using Simon Says Stamp February 2016 card kit. And it’s a window shaker!! Hope you like it and are inspired to try something like this :-)

I love the Hello Beautiful stamp set and the patterned papers from this kit. I did make one more card using the positive heart die cut. Stay tuned, I will share that here in the next few days.
